Hi, in my apartment, I have a room of about 60 sqm that was at some point divided into two rooms. The smaller room (about 25 sqm) is currently used as a closet and is separated only by a stud wall with a layer of drywall towards the larger room. When inside the room, the studs and the backside of the drywall are fully visible.

I am now planning to convert this "closet" into a guest room as I will soon have a long-term lodger.

But my question here is how to do it in the best way. I want it to be reasonably soundproofed, so just putting up drywall on the inside of the room might not be sufficient as a bedroom wall?

What should I use as insulation in that case?

If someone knowledgeable about these materials could give me an approximate cost for this, it would also be helpful, as I have no idea. So, that's drywall and insulation for maybe 6-8 meters of wall? The ceiling is about 2.40 meters high.

Build a separate stud system with staggered studs for the new interior.
Place mineral wool between the two stud systems.
Panel with double gypsum boards.
Seal all gaps carefully with sealant.
Check that the door closes tightly.

Yes, then it will be done properly. But as I understand it, the original poster does not have higher sound insulation requirements than one normally has for interior walls?

If not, one can suffice with insulating with mineral wool between the studs and placing plasterboards on the inside, possibly double layers.

I don't know how many times this has been up for discussion. But 2 layers of gypsum/side is perfect and if one wants, insulation can be added. However, the gypsum is the most important part and the construction should be airtight.
