My daughter wants a playhouse and I'm a nerd.
So I'm going to build a hobbit hole by next summer.
I'm thinking round, are they called well pipes?, maybe 3m in diameter, with concrete domes for the roof. Then shovel "some soil" on it.
Does this exist ready-made? I know straight pipes are available, but are the domes available too? What does it cost? Where can you buy them? (Live outside Malmö) Can you cut doors and windows with an angle grinder?
The alternative would be to cast it myself. The advantage of that would be the appearance, when you let the mold (in wood) remain on the inside. The disadvantage is that it's more tedious work. Do you need to reinforce such a structure? How thick should it be cast?
A bit crazy, but it might work. :screwy:
A concrete three-chamber well!
Now these are a little over 2 m in diameter at the bottom and might be on the small side, but basically ready to use. Just cut a hole for the door and remove partitions, and possibly clad it with boards around or paint it.
I thought you could contact a manufacturer and buy one that was unsuccessful or damaged during production.
The ones in the picture come from http://betonggjuteriet.se in Markaryd
But hobbit holes should be horizontal cylinders rather than vertical, right? One of those three-chamber septic tanks laid down instead should work pretty well!
