Hello,
I've come across a batch of glass panes, in 2 different sizes/variants.
My partner has been wanting a greenhouse for a long time, so now it seems like it's time.
The glass panes are double and triple-glazed, and they don't have any frames around them. The windows that are triple-glazed have double glass on one side that is glued together.
Otherwise, this is how they look—a metal strip with rubber sealing between the glass.
What I'm now starting to wonder is how on earth I should build frames for them, or how to attach them to the building in a good way.
My thought is either to have a masonry base, and then a wooden frame where the glass would be the actual facade. They are 130 and 150 cm high, so they will extend from the base up to the roof along the long sides.
Or it could be an entirely wooden frame, without a masonry base, telling myself it will be less work and cheaper.
Should I rout grooves in the beams that go around the glass, should I place the glass on a beam at the bottom, but perhaps place it far enough out that the outermost glass pane is in the air and the water thus drips down without being trapped?
Should they be placed on some sheet metal that protects the wooden frame?
I haven't decided if the frame will be in untreated wood or if it will be pressure-treated, but regardless, it's good to avoid standing water and unnecessary moisture on the inside of the wall.
Grateful for all types of tips or thoughts, maybe there's already someone who has built a greenhouse with glass panes and has a picture to share?
