Build wall before or after flooring?
Hi
I'm planning to remodel my kitchen and am considering how to go about it.
I want to extend a wall where a tall cabinet and fridge and freezer will stand. What's best?
To build the wall first and lay the floor around it or to lay the floor first then frame the wall?
It's parquet flooring that's going to be laid?
The floor should be able to move, right?
Any "construction pro" who knows?

Lay the floor first Then you can remove the wall in the future without having to redo the entire floor
If it had been at my house, I would have assessed the probability of changing the floor as greater than the likelihood of needing the wall removed again. Therefore, I would have built the wall first. Since TS asked about movements in the floor, I guess it's some form of wooden floor, and I would have avoided pinching it under a wall. It might work, but I wouldn't have dared to take the risk.sir_daniel said:
Won't it be a problem to attach the studs for the wall if the floor needs to move freely? Build the wall first and buy an extra package of flooring and store it away so you are covered if you want to remove the wall in 5, 10, or maybe 20 years and want to keep the floor.
