build shelves in the shed?

About to build shelves in my newly built storage shed. I was thinking of framing with 2"x2" and having an upright stud ~1/m and then laying 2"x3" horizontally at three different levels. How do I build them the sturdiest? I'm considering going for a depth of 60cm so they can accommodate moving boxes, is that a good measurement? What is the most suitable and cost-effective material for the shelves?

For shelves, I would use regular outer panel boards like 120X21 or similar. Four pieces with a little gap between them. Then I would probably just have standing studs at the front and screw a strip or something at the back which they rest upon.

Alternatively, I would build everything with panel boards, like four standing pieces, a strip on each side that the shelves rest on. I've built a similar one that's in the shed and it holds much more than you would think. It's also cheap. Mine is stained brown. Both cheap and simple, and looks nice.

sounds like a really good idea. Checked and råspont 120*20 was in the same price range as panel 21*120 so maybe should have gone with that then? How do you get all the shovels and stuff up in a space-efficient way?

drill rebar into the wall studs maybe, depending on the design you should be able to hang 4-5 shovels on a 40 cm rebar that is of thicker material.

I wouldn't use tongue and groove wood either since dirt gets stuck in the grooves, free-standing boards with a little distance between them so dirt falls straight through instead.

I like formplywood! It's not insanely expensive and has a moisture-resistant glossy surface that I think works great as shelves.
