Hi, I'm going to build a mirror panel, which material should I choose? MDF or plywood? I should also mention that I plan to encase the mirrors with fir moldings.

Where should the mirror panels be mounted? What surface finish are you looking for?

It's in a dining room, aiming for a smooth and fine finish. My first thought was to first attach a plywood board along the entire wall, then build the mirrors with MDF. The plywood might make it easier to glue/nail everything instead of the drywall.

A thin mdf on the wall probably works better than plywood if you want the smoothest possible finish. Mdf is also harder and more impact-resistant than plywood.
