I'm in the process of setting up a closet in the hallway and want to make it look more built-in, without gaps at the ceiling.
The problem is the crown molding. Since I have never cut moldings before, it feels crazy to try to remove the part of the molding that's behind the closet and then try to miter molding around it...
Does anyone see another solution? Maybe bevel cut the molding and simply mount it at a 90-degree angle against the existing molding, then fill it in...?
Just putting a filler piece without installing moldings is probably the last solution, but I think it looks a bit dull.

Install a roof connection and shape the new roof molding so that the existing molding can remain.
