I'm planning to close up a portal that was cut between the living room and an old bedroom. The opening is 170*210cm, and the wall is made of lightweight concrete blocks.

The problem I have is that the existing wall is 7cm thick, and I don't know how to close it up in a stable and good way.

45mm studs, OSB, and drywall are too thick (about 93mm), and building it up again with lightweight concrete blocks seems difficult to get right as well. I need to get the walls aligned on both sides to be able to wallpaper and make it look nice.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a solution?

Best regards,
Tomas

So skip OSB and go with just 45 stud and 13mm drywall on both sides. Frame closely and add proper noggins where you want to hang things. It becomes 71mm, but it should be possible to plaster it in so it looks even.

Edit: proper = close
