Build in an arch

Hello!

We have bought a terraced house that needs some work done. There are two rooms sharing an old archway. We want to close it up, that is, seal it off. My question is, how do you close up an archway yourself? Attached you can see the actual archway.

Would you say that you have to put up the wall against the studs so that you get a square and then place new reglar in the middle?

Remove the casings and open up towards the ceiling.
Install studs where the casings used to be and at least one in the middle. Screw drywall on one side and also OSB if there are double boards on each side. Add insulation and boards on the other wall. Spackle, paint, or wallpaper.

Remove the casing and open up towards the ceiling. Place studs where the casings used to be and at least one in the middle. Screw in plasterboards on one side and also OSB if there are double boards on each side. Insert insulation and boards on the other wall. Fill, paint, or wallpaper.

Thanks! When you say to place studs where the casing was, do you mean horizontally or vertically?

Vertically, so you have something to attach the sheets.
You obviously need to have a baseboard on the floor as well!
