I have a masonry open fireplace with an insert stove in it that stands in the middle of the room. The bricks themselves get warm but are touchable, I would guess about 50 degrees when the fire is raging. I was planning to divide the room with a wall against the stove, and what I wonder about is: What material should I use to build the wall? I was thinking that it should preferably not be easily flammable. Steel studs and plasterboard, I thought, is there anything else I should consider? Do you need planning permission to put up an additional wall in a small house that I own?
