Hello folks!
I’m working on building a rain shelter under the balcony and ended up building it as shown in the pictures. Now I need your help and suggestions for solutions...

When I tried pouring out a big bucket of water, most of it ran nicely on the plastic roof, but some spilled over the “edges towards the beams” and straight down...

My question is, how would you seal between the plastic roof and the beam?

Grateful for all ideas!

  • Underneath view of a balcony with a clear plastic roof attached to wooden beams. The setup is part of a rain shelter project.
  • Clear plastic roofing with water droplets on wooden beams, highlighting water drainage issues between roof and beams.
  • Plastic roofing under a balcony with water droplets on the surface, showing the need for sealing between the plastic sheets and wooden beams.
  • Clear plastic roof under wooden balcony with water droplets on the surface; issue with water leaking at edges where plastic meets wooden beams.
The boring answer is probably a tight seal from above, i.e. remove the decking on the balcony. (maybe it's enough to lift a few and reach in with an arm and spray?)
If not, I would have tried to squeeze a rubber strip between your plastic roof and beam.

Hello
Why not install an entire roof with a slope outward under the entire balcony?

There were more screws with sealant from underneath. No more leak ✅
