In a common area near us, there is a sturdy homemade swing set that someone built with approximately 100x100 posts set in gravel/soil. On it, there is a swing. I would like to build a chin-up bar that hangs under the horizontal post/bar, but I can't figure out how to do it.
The best would be an iron pipe as the bar itself and then some fastenings/things that can be screwed directly up into the bar. Some kind of fittings, but I've been to building supplies stores now and searched, but it's like a needle in a haystack.
Perhaps there's someone here who can creatively help me?
Biltema has guaranteed what you need. There are countless options for design, the simplest might be a pipe with two loops at the ends and then two pieces of rope around the crossbar, the ropes are clipped into the loops with carabiners. But you might want it rigid.
The children and I share the swing set, it doesn't cost much to create a good outdoor gym with a few pulleys and some rope.
The problem with these pipe holders is the strength. The screw holes are quite small. A chin-up bar with possible jumps needs to handle a very high weight, additionally with jerks. I considered the same thing but bought a ready-made bar at gymkompaniet (I think it was). It cost maybe 700.
One alternative is to drill a hole in both posts and then run a pipe straight through the entire frame, but then the swinging function is somewhat compromised. I don't know what a galvanized pipe of that length costs either, maybe it's very expensive.
The problem with pipe holders is probably not the strength (unless they are very weak) but that you end up too high, i.e. close to the top rail and have no room for your head.

I'm also considering a combined swing set/outdoor gym. It would be fun to see more of what you have done.
