The question is, do I need damp-proof course?

I've taken down an internal wall that was built with clay bricks, bricks, and small stones. I'm planning to rebuild the wall with only bricks.
The foundation where the wall will stand is made of stone, and I'm thinking of laying concrete over them to level with the slab and to get an even surface to start from.
Should I lay a damp-proof course before the first layer of bricks? There's nothing under the chimney as you can see on the right side of the picture, it also stands on stones. It’s to the left of the chimney that I will build again.

  • Renovation site with exposed brick walls and construction tools, including a shovel and buckets, in a partially demolished room with visible electrical cables.
No tar paper between the concrete slab and the brick wall, but there is tar paper between the brick wall and the roof/intermediate joists.
