Yes, I'm sure the construction itself is strong enough. What I meant by it could split is that the surface layer cracks in the bubbles and splits, not that the entire plywood sheet falls apart. The risk is that the split edges on the bubbles could injure the horses...

I have a feeling that OSB might almost be better here. The surface of such feels more durable than plywood, as if more glue has been used. Could be a false feeling, though...
