Broken concrete around door opening
Hello!
I would like to ask for some advice regarding the following situation. I am currently completely renovating my apartment. In connection with this, I am removing, among other things, old frames and doors. When I removed the frame, some large gypsum blocks fell around it, and it exposed some of the reinforcement. I suspect this has to do with the casting of the concrete not being perfect, so they had to "patch" it.
Question: Installing a new frame seems quite impossible right now because of this, as the opening does not align with the frame's surface. See pictures. How do you resolve this in the best way possible? I'm a bit torn, unfortunately. Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Abraham

You can try to attach the frame to the existing concrete, using frame screws of different lengths and then fill it up with plaster or another material. If there's a larger gap, wider moldings will be attached to the frame and a bit onto the wall.
Hi!
The gypsum plaster worked excellently! It filled the gap quite well. I placed trim on one side (there was still a 6cm gap between the wall and the upper part of the trim) so that the plaster would rest against it to some extent. I filled in with plaster until there was no more space. Thanks for the tip!
