Hello,

I have built a basement staircase with leca blocks and planned to plaster it. The other day, I received a comment that "plaster is soft and it might not work to plaster the steps without them breaking under pressure."

Is this true? If so, is there anything else I can do to get durable steps, or have I totally messed up by building the staircase with leca?

Regards, a slightly worried first-time bricklayer

it's just a matter of casting a small slab with fine concrete on each step.

Why did you build with leca? Concrete blocks are cheaper than leca.

Yep, that was one of my thoughts :) Good that someone else thought the same :)

Why? Ignorance... First time I've built anything and I used the blocks I found at my usual purchasing place... There were no concrete blocks there :/
