Considering an extension of an existing garage that is 5x8m slab on ground.
The extension is planned to be 5x7m, and what I'm most concerned about is the foundation. I know the ground is clayey and that piling usually occurs in such cases, but when I look at the garage's drawings, I see no information indicating that was done there. My alternative for the extension is a crawl space foundation.
The load on the foundation will be quite large as I intend to use the building for music production. This means I will apply the room-in-room technique to isolate as much of the leaking sound to neighbors as possible. So, lots of ground insulation and drywall.
What do those of you with experience think about how I should approach the foundation?
