I am in the middle of building a new utility room and have realized a small problem. Where the overhead cabinets are to be attached, there is no cross-bracing. The wall is otherwise constructed of 70 studs plus single drywall.

What do you think, should I tear up the drywall and add cross-bracing - or use some extra mollys and make sure to use the wall studs where possible? And if I choose to add cross-bracing, should I attach them with angle brackets to the standing studs?

Knowing my wife, the cabinets will be loaded very heavily...

Thanks for some guidance..

One option is to screw a beam underneath and above the cabinets that you can then screw the cabinets into. It's a lot of work to tear down drywall for this, and after all, it's just a utility room.

* Mollys or similar
* Try to find/screw into some wall studs
* Attach all cabinets to each other above all
