I want to remove the plaster from our wall to have visible bricks as an interior detail, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with something similar. Did you prime it to prevent old joints, etc., from falling off?

Well, a few years ago, we were tasked by a client (who seems to have unlimited resources) to chip off the plaster on the outer wall (inside) of the kitchen. It took a while since we didn't want to damage the bricks. But when the plaster was off and the wall cleaned, it looked appalling. The wall was once built from the outside, so the inside was accordingly uneven, damaged bricks, and certainly not a straight surface. You have to wonder how they thought it would be otherwise. We had to plaster up to a new wall, but if one insists on having visible stone there, there is a variety of decorative stone available today to put on the inside.
