Hello,
I recently bought a house and my boiler room is in the basement. Above the boiler room lives my 1-year-old son. Sometimes when we have a strong fire going, I think it smells like smoke in my son's room.
I'm wondering if there is any odor-sealing paint or something similar that can be used to paint the ceiling and joints in the boiler room, and what is it called in that case? And possibly for any pipes that go out from the boiler room? Is it possible to use something like silicone to keep the smell away from the room above but that still can withstand heat from, for example, hot water pipes, etc.?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Best regards

Hello
Yes, I am quite sure... There are quite a lot of pipes going up from the boiler room up through the backside of a closet that is in the boy's room. You can smell the boiler room odor more strongly from that closet...

I think the smoke mostly comes when I open the hatch to add more wood... also, I think I have enough draft in the boiler up through the chimney base.. I had the chimney sweep at my place just a couple of weeks ago..
