Hi!
We're thinking of buying climbing holds for our daughter for Christmas and setting them up on a board in the garden. But I'm wondering what kind of board to use. In playgrounds, it seems to be some type of wooden board that looks like it's mixed with some kind of rubber...
But I've never seen that in any hardware store...
Does anyone know?

Or can you otherwise use formplyfa?

Formplyfa should work, right?
Or marine plywood treated with suitable paint?

Best regards, Patrik

Can the edges also withstand exposure to rain and wind, or do they need to be treated in some way? I'm thinking they might be a bit sharp and not very child-friendly, but maybe one could fasten a rubber hose around the edges or something...

Those slightly "soft" boards you see in playgrounds, do you have any idea what they are?

Marine plywood withstands most things, but treat it all around, that's what I would do just to be safe!

Why not buy a 5mm sleeping pad/foam and glue it to the board?
Then it will be soft and nice!
You should be able to edge it with some type of trim as mentioned.

Best regards, Patrik

The playgrounds I have seen with climbing holds on a wall have been the type of plywood used on truck beds and similar. Dark brown with a slightly grooved pattern. Even these might need to have strips placed around the edges to reduce sharp edges, but I guess this type of board will last until the daughter moves out. ;)

Yes, that's right! They often have... Little grooves.
But is it something that a private individual can get hold of?

Look at those sheets used when making molds, they are really stable. Quite expensive, but maybe not a lot is needed,
