How can you tell if a house is built with "blåbetong"? If the concrete blocks are light gray in color and not gray-blue, does that mean it isn't blåbetong or can the appearance vary?

Are there different types of blåbetong with varying radiation, such as low-radiation and high-radiation?

One cannot be sure about radiation levels just based on color. There is very light aerated concrete made from uranium-containing alum shale (the main cause of radiation) and vice versa. The only thing one can do is to perform both a radon measurement and a gamma radiation measurement on the material in question.

Hi
I went to the municipality's Environment and Health Protection Office and borrowed a Gamma radiation meter. If it reacts wildly, you're supposed to proceed with a proper radon measurement. The humor in the situation was that when I looked at my Lättbetong house, I brought the meter with me to the viewing. I lowered the sensitivity outdoors (different scales) so that it only "crackled" a little, which meant that when I entered the house, it crackled quite a bit (some gamma radiation is always present) without showing any significant reading on the scale. Guess if it became a good bargaining position as I walked around with a furrowed brow.
Subsequently, I conducted a long-term radon measurement that showed an annual average of 33 Bq.
It varies greatly depending on the brand of the aerated concrete. My house is built with Siporex from Gävle, which was sand-based.

Best regards/ LOB
