Some considerations:
Are svartlim, asphaltlim, and tjärlim completely different materials or different names for the same thing?
Regarding asbestos in any of the adhesives mentioned above, under e.g., older plastic flooring, is there any of the adhesives (if they are different types) that is more likely to contain asbestos? Not all old svartlim, tjärlim, asphaltlim contained asbestos, right?
I have read that, for example, asphaltlim was often found on concrete floors. For any specific reason? On the other hand, if you find a black adhesive under a plastic floor that is on an old wooden floor, is it then less likely that the adhesive contains asbestos? I mean, was it more common to have asbestos-containing adhesive on concrete floors?
And, if you have already succeeded in tearing out an old plastic floor with asbestos-containing svartlim underneath, is it okay to leave the remnants, that is, can one believe and hope that the fibers are relatively well bound in the remaining adhesive?
And please, those of you who have already read numerous asbestos questions from me, I would appreciate avoiding comments on this. I am simply seeking facts on the subject. To know how best to proceed with adhesive remaining on top of the old wooden floor after we previously, unaware of asbestos, tore out an old plastic floor. I am now planning to remove the parquet currently on top and instead lay down a wooden floor. Therefore, I am considering whether I need to take any precautions, remove the remaining black adhesive, or simply remove the parquet and lay the new wooden floor over the existing adhesive remnants. Can one feel relatively secure with the adhesive remnants if you don’t start sanding it?
