Hello.
We are going to build a house, (or rather, pay people to do it for us).
Initially, we planned to use regular "lösvirke." Wood studs, 190mm insulation, and all that.
But as the sound-sensitive person I am, I asked the builder for advice on making the bedroom as quiet as possible. Double gypsum boards and some kind of insulation would do the trick.
Today, however, he got wind of these BESTA blocks that supposedly provide good sound insulation. These blocks are like large Lego pieces (according to the manufacturer) and measure 1200*300*195 l*h*w.
Anyone with experience with these blocks?

Generally speaking, it is said that cellular plastic insulates sound poorly. Mineral wool is usually effective at soundproofing. What often causes problems is sound transmission through the wooden studs, which you could theoretically address in this way. However, external noise should be equally well insulated with a traditional wooden stud wall with something like a "västkustskiva" on the outside.
Thanks to those who responded. I would like to have even more opinions.
Jonas_O Have tried to clarify what is the main supporting element in the construction. According to a guy on the BESTA block, it is the plywood sheets in the blocks that are the supporting element. It is the plywood that is nailed together as you place the blocks like Lego pieces.
But according to my builder, he believed that the studs inside and outside were also load-bearing.
Peter_Skoglund Doesn't sound so good. However, the construction of this wall should correspond to a stick-built wall with 260 mm of insulation in terms of thermal insulation. Then I'm wondering about the sound. I might try to visit a house that's already been built and listen.
e Have not received a price, probably more expensive than regular stick-built. But hopefully, it goes faster to assemble, so it probably evens out.
mini Sounds great. Have you noticed yet if it feels soundproof or not?

Does anyone know anything about www.palikka.fi building system compared to Besta-Block in terms of price, insulation, etc.?
Considering mixing with Leca (clad with slate) And Betablock (clad with unedged/rough panel)
Does anyone have experience mixing Leca and Besta blocks?

Sorry Karl
Our house is 112 sqm, we have no other heat source than fvp. it also includes a garage in the electricity consumption of 36 sqm that is at about 15 degrees.
except when working on the car, which is most of the time, then it's about 19-20 degrees warm

Did you compare prices with other house types before choosing besta??
Did you build it yourselves??

Logan, use the search function and search for besta, then you will find newer and better threads.
