How can you find out if a wall is load-bearing or not? I received drawings from the city planning office but didn't become any wiser after looking at them. I thought the load-bearing walls would be marked in some way, but they were not. I live in an apartment and the building was constructed in 1943.

They are the wall between the two dead lines I want to remove.

  • Blueprint of a building floor plan showing a wall marked between two red lines, indicated for removal.
That wall is likely not part of the load-bearing structure. However, it may support the corresponding wall on the floor above.

They are above the wind so it should be quite risk-free maybe... ;)

Maybe is not a good word to combine with the word bearing. What does the board say?

I was being ironic when I wrote maybe, of course, one must be sure since it can have devastating consequences...

The board doesn't seem to know either how it is with the wall, if that's what you meant?

It wouldn't be the first time someone gets a maybe as an answer and immediately brings out the sledgehammer ;)
Yes, I meant that sometimes the board has knowledge about building construction. It depends on their interest and if someone has been active before.

Get someone there who knows a bit more about construction, and they can probably quickly determine that the wall isn't load-bearing.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to give any more definite answers online.

Yeah, exactly, I need to get someone who knows their stuff. You definitely don't want to take any chances.

But thanks for the answers :)
