Hello
I am renovating our laundry room, which is located in a garage building attached to the house.
Now that we have torn down everything inside, I see that the ceiling beams run the length of the room.
The room is 550x360cm.
The roof is a flat roof with the following construction:
- roofing felt
- rough boards
- beam 200mm
- rough boards
- gypsum
In the middle of the room, there was a wall that we have torn down; it only had 45x45 studs.
There are no construction drawings, and the house was built in '69.
The question now is whether I need to install a cross beam to support the roof.
5.5m feels quite long when it comes to 200mm beams. They are quite close together, approximately 40cm center to center.
Snow zone south of Malmö... (we did have 2cm of snow last night)
What dimension would you use?
The ceiling height is not that high, and I would preferably like to avoid having pillars in the middle of the room.
