Hello, as mentioned above, I want to raise the ceiling beams in the stable to the higher position shown in the picture to get a higher ceiling height. The stable is about 8x8 meters. How would you frame it?
The short answer is that I wouldn't do it at all.
I have colored your image to show the forces. Blue indicates pressure from above, and you can see that the whole thing, both the entire truss and the wall plate, ultimately rests on the very beam you want to remove by "framing up" something somewhere. Orange indicates outward pressure, and those marked with orange hold the walls together and prevent them from bulging out. The construction works as a whole, so it's very difficult to just change one component.
If ceiling height is very important, there are really only two solutions: build anew with the desired ceiling height or get smaller horses (I recall that the height requirement is proportional to the withers height).
Thank you, yes, I am aware of the height requirements for the horses, which is why I am asking if it's possible to modify the structure as the current ceiling height is insufficient.
My hope is to move up/set new beams that support the walls to the smaller orange a bit higher. It involves a total of 3 beams at the 8 m.
Thanks, yes I know the measurements I need in ceiling height for the horses, hence my question if it is possible to change because the ceiling height is not enough as it is now.
My hope is to move up/set new beams that hold the walls in to the smaller orange one a little higher up. It involves a total of 3 beams on the 8 m.
Raise the roof instead and build new higher walls.
Hi, as mentioned above I want to raise the ceiling beams in the barn to the higher one in the picture to get a higher ceiling height. The barn is about 8x8 meters. How would you frame it?
The red posts in the picture could be replaced with longer ones of the same thickness.
