I am in the process of renovating the bathroom in the summer house and have a question regarding the floor. This is the current situation. First, there is a concrete block that is incredibly thick, about a meter thick. (The previous owner was probably sponsored with concrete, the garden paths are 30 cm thick in concrete...) On top of the concrete slab, there is some type of age-resistant plastic, and then come the floor joists, which are a few centimeters above the slab, presumably to avoid direct contact. Insulation about 20 cm thick is placed around the joists and on top of these is a tongue-and-groove wooden floor, then Masonite, and a glued vinyl flooring.
My question now is how to proceed with the new project. I was thinking of laying chipboard and self-leveling compound on top, but the question is about underneath. Should I place new plastic on the underside of the floor joists and insulate, or should I put the insulation directly on the slab and then plastic under the floor gypsum, or what should I do?
