Hi! We are renovating our basement and will soon be pouring the floor. We will be adding insulation and heating. My question is about the walls if anyone has good advice on what to do with them? Can you paint over this and if so with what and do you need to prime in any way beforehand? Or should you completely replaster the walls? Basement under renovation with rough, damaged walls, exposed ceiling, debris on the floor, a small window, and renovation materials in the foreground. Basement under renovation with unfinished concrete floor and rough plastered walls. Visible are exposed pipes and a drainage hole.

Sand away all old paint, if a good final finish is important then sand, then paint.

It looks like the paint has peeled in some places, presumably due to moisture, is that something you have already addressed or?

Thanks for the response! The inspector thought that the moisture was present before the drainage was in place. The basement doesn't feel damp and there is no bad smell. We are also planning to install underfloor heating, which we believe will further help. The walls that look relatively fine, do they also need to be sanded down, or can we just touch up the paint there, do you think?
