The company I've hired to extend the house has now done the casting and masonry, but I don't think the result is good enough. I have pointed this out and they will get back to me after the weekend.
What I want to know is whether it's possible to "add in" more mortar in the gaps between the layers or if that's not good enough? Or do these kinds of errors need to be re-masoned? I want to know so that they don't just "add in" some mortar and it’s not sufficient.
I have measured in a few places how much mortar is missing and it varies between 2-6cm deep, and in one place it was a whole 11 cm which is almost half of the stone.
Is the idea with the "recess" at one end of the stone (see the stone on the left in the background) that you are supposed to fill it with mortar before placing the stone, or should it be pressed in when the stone is in place?

I built basement walls in leca at the countryside and even though I'm a sailor and have never done it before, it turned out significantly better than that....
The cavities above and on the sides are likely for more mortar to reinforce the whole thing and space for rebar.
Hope they at least place longitudinal rebar in every other/every third layer?

Since Lecamurar needs to be plastered afterwards to become tight, it is a disadvantage that so much mortar remains on the outside. Protruding mortar should be scraped off immediately. As an amateur, you can build with Lecastenar with good results if you use a mortar box that ensures the mortar is evenly distributed from the start.
