We are renovating the bathroom. There's the hatch up to the uninsulated attic. Very poorly placed. We are considering installing a hatch with a ladder in another room. But some people we've talked to say you don't need a hatch from inside. The main thing is that you can access the attic from outside. That's how our neighbor has it. And we have a hatch on the roof. But should you have one from the inside??? And if so, why?

If you don't have any reason for a hatch from the inside, you should of course skip it. It's not a requirement as far as I know, as long as you can access the attic elsewhere.

The only reason to have an internal hatch is probably to easily send up some stuff to the attic. You also avoid having an ugly hatch on the outside.

Possibly, it is used for the chimney sweep to be able to make their way up onto the roof, and then there must be an alternative way up.
