Hello.
I have noticed a large hole in an asphalt board located between the inner wall's studs and the outer wall.
The challenge is to patch the hole in some way.
Replacing the asphalt board is not an option, so I need to cover the hole somehow.
Is it possible to attach/glue windproofing foil directly onto the board?

Grateful for ideas...

  • A large hole in an asphalt board placed between wooden studs, requiring a patch solution.
Isn't it enough with some tape, for example duct tape or something similar a bit wider. I always have duct tape, gorilla tape, tarpaulin tape, and packing tape at home, it solves most quick fixes.

I don't think tape sticks well to asfaboard, a piece of asfaboard or oil-hardened masonite that fits between the horizontal battens and goes in behind the vertical studs, then wedge the board against the studs.

Tape...
Might be something.
Age-resistant sealing tape?

Try and see if it seems to do the trick.

If you're going to tape "for real," you should use primer to bond the surface, but that's not something you buy for this. My first idea is to brush on wood glue to achieve the same effect, but that's probably overkill.

Good idea with primer.
I'll see what I have.
The alternative might be to paint around the hole to bind the surface layer of the material...and then tape...
:)

Place a piece of tape and first test how it fits before doing various other things ;)
