The feeling is that the brackets extend far enough from the wall on their own that it won't be necessary, but it's a good thought if there are any problems. Trying to make it as aesthetic as possible too hehe…
A beam or similar can be painted and helps distribute the weight on the wall. So 4 sturdy screws for the beam instead of 8 smaller ones for the brackets in the wall. I have 4 solid screws in the wall holding the board, and the straps hang from 1 hook/eyelet.
