Hello,

We are going to have a door installed in the basement, and this will involve, among other things, chipping away some concrete.

From previous experience, we know that this creates a lot of dust, so some form of painter's plastic is mandatory. The idea is to tape down construction plastic (4x5 m) to the ceiling as partition walls on both sides of the door. In the middle of these walls, the plastic overlaps about 1.5 m to make it possible to go in and out.

We know that even though we do this, some dust will get out, but we hope that it will stop some at least.

The question now is how to secure the plastic safely without damaging the ceiling? We've used staples before, but we don't want to do that here. Maybe regular painter's tape would work if we buy extra thick?

Perhaps this protective film from Biltema?

29005
200 mm wide.

Build a "frame" of timber that you tension between the floor and ceiling, which you then attach the plastic to, 45x45 works well.

There is "plastic with zipper" that you tape in doorways, they work quite well. However, it means that you have to clean 2 rooms.

Do not buy Biltema's protective plastic. Thin and flimsy, becomes static and sticks, and breaks easily.

I was really satisfied with the Biltema plastic sheet door with a zipper.

The one with the door and zipper might be better. I was referring to the simple plastic curtains that Biltema also sells.
