Attach the boards on the outside or between the posts?

I will set posts 95x95 with 1200mm spacing on two sides of the deck. These will then be clad with boards 22x120 and 22x45 horizontally with gaps. What I am wondering is, I have the option to use full lengths of boards and slats 4.8m without joints. Or is it advantageous to place support beside the post, like 45x45, and screw the slats into them between the posts?

I am of the opinion that a few holes in the posts are preferable, but it is my unfounded paranoia and faithful devotion to Murphy's Law that makes me say so.

I will do the same thing this year on one of my patios and then do alternative 2 that you listed, type.
