I'm trying to give some advice to someone who bought an apartment abroad. In this project, the apartment is basically handed over raw to the owner, except for windows and heating pipes/radiators installed. Everything with electricity, water, and surface finishes must be done by the apartment owner. This leaves some room for how things should be done and how best to do them.

Apparently, others are starting to groove walls everywhere for electricity and socket boxes. In bathrooms, the apartment owner pours extra layers of flooring which they then chisel for drains, etc., which to me sounds like the craftsmen are creating double work. Why not cast with pipes already laid or with molds so that pipes/wires can be pulled?

When it comes to walls, which mostly seem to be made of Leca blocks, wouldn't it be better to use metal studs and plasterboard instead of grooving in electrical wires and then plastering the walls?

Dead easy with electrical wiring in solid masonry walls. Just cut channels, insert wires with a few clips (no conduits), and then apply plaster. If the workforce is accustomed to working with masonry rather than drywall, it goes quickly and costs little. It also doesn't require a lot of unnecessary planning and drawings as it does in Sweden. Fewer office hours and direct execution save money. And a minimum of tools and materials.

You might as well mill in pipes while you're at it, I think. But it feels like you get a higher finish/nicer indoor environment if you put metal studs and drywall on leca walls rather than just plastered leca walls?

A beautifully plastered wall I consider significantly more beautiful than a gypsum wall.
