Hi, I'm working on adding insulation to my summer cottage and installing horizontal paneling.

But after installing the batten for the air gap, I became unsure if I'm doing it correctly. Is it okay how I've set it, or should it be open at the bottom/top so that a lot of air can circulate?

It's fine to have it as you did, but you've put the windscreen the wrong way round?

Oh my gosh. I haven't even thought about that. Of course, I did. What luck that you noticed.

If the plan is to have horizontal siding directly on the studs, you cannot have the horizontal stud at the bottom as you mentioned, the air should be able to pass. If there is an additional layer of studs, it's not a problem.

I recommend clearing under the house, it improves moisture conditions against the joists and can have positive effects on the indoor climate. (y)

Don't you think it's tidy enough? =) It will be done as soon as the construction is finished.

But can you keep the upper one or should it also be open there?

Open at the top and bottom. Don't forget to set up mouse bands so it doesn't become a rodent highway behind the panel.

But they are only needed at the bottom, right?

Yes, the musband is only needed at the bottom.

What an amateur I suddenly became. But back at it again =)

Follow-up question. How flat must the windbreak be against the insulation? Does it matter if there are small bulges, if you know what I mean. No wrinkles.

It's okay.
