Hello, just bought a house that I'm now renovating.

A few years after the first move-in, there was a problem with the weight of the bathroom and it was necessary to reinforce the joists with a trellis of reinforced timber. (Long story). The outer walls are made of lightweight concrete, and the joists are made of wooden I-beams and masonite on a steel beam in the middle of the house's layout.

I find this a bit boring and wonder if anyone here has an alternative solution for weight distribution? I would like it to be as open as possible. Thanks

Daniel

  • Room under renovation with open shelves, exposed wiring, and building materials on the floor. Large windows illuminate the space.
Either make a bookshelf from the trellis, or alternatively switch to a glulam beam or steel beam instead. If you haven't done something like this before, you need to get help to ensure the sizing and fastening are correct.
