Want to remove the vent pipe that goes from the sewer stack in the basement through the two floors to the roof. Intend to place an air valve just at the socket in the floor.
Will it work?
What happens if it doesn't work?
Hugs!

The valve must be positioned at a distance higher than the highest water trap, and be the last part of the drainage system. If it is placed before, for example, the toilet, the valve will not help to admit air into the system, and the water trap in the toilet can be siphoned out, leading to odor problems. A valve (vacuum valve) must always be located in a heated space.
