Hi!
I'm setting up battens for mounting the exterior cladding on my house and realize that I might have bought battens that are too thin (22mm). Is this air gap sufficient, or do I need to redo it? :)

Sufficient enough, as long as you have wood behind the battens because it is too weak to support the panel when nailed...

Thanks for the quick response :) I have attached the battens horizontally on vertical studs 220x45 with 60 cc but guess this will be too weak when it needs to be nailed? @Rejäl

Yes, a 22x45 will crack when you nail the panel, the smallest dimension usually used is 28x70..

Okay, then I probably need to redo it.

...and it doesn't help to screw on the outer panel? It will still crack? @Rejäl

Doesn't matter as far as I can tell, unfortunately...

Another problem in such cases with 22mm spikläkt is that the nail/screw is likely to go through the läkten and puncture the wind barrier (if one is used).

Yes, I realize that too. When I now take off the old battens, can I use the same nail holes when I attach the new ones? I don't need to install new wind paper as well? @Gabbe1

You can tape holes and cracks with windproof tape.
