Air gap / battens behind horizontal cladding on unheated storage
Hello!
I'm planning to install shingles on my cold storage and was thinking of screwing the panels into the standing wall studs, as an air gap is unnecessary because it's uninsulated. But I'm hesitating a bit.
Is there any point in attaching upright battens directly to the wall studs and fastening the shingles to these instead of directly into the wall studs?

The big advantage is that with an air gap you can install a wind barrier that not only seals against wind and weather but also mostly keeps out mice and wasps.
If this is relevant to your building project, I don't know, of course; if it is otherwise very leaky, it doesn't help much.

Windproofing paper is probably out of the question in this build. It will likely get torn apart quite quickly, I think, since it's a shed and I will have tools and such along the walls that will then tear the windproofing paper.
Should I put an air gap anyway IF the panel needs ventilation?
Is 25x38 enough for 21x120 fjällpanel or should I perhaps even use 25x45 lock panel as vertical battens against the wall studs?
I was thinking of using sparse panel 28x70 but since I won't have any insulation or inner panel, the battens will stick out on the sides of the wall studs in the spaces between the wall studs, which feels a bit unnecessary (doesn't really matter but if I had the choice, I'd prefer to have the corners free in the spaces).
