Hello,

I'm going to lower the ceiling in the basement to hide new water pipes and electricity (all electrical cables have been redone in conduits). But I'm a bit unsure about how to do this.

The ceiling is siporex (or similar...) so in order not to touch the beams, which are about 5cm deep, my idea was to stand the 70mm studs between the beams. This leaves about 2 cm of space between the plasterboard and the beam where pipes can fit.

What do you think about this? Or does anyone have other ideas?

Basement hallway with exposed electrical conduits and water pipes on the ceiling. A towel hangs on the left door, and there is an electrical panel on the wall.

Anyone with tips?

How high is the ceiling in your basement?

I have 220cm and have made cable trays on the ceiling. Lowering is not an option for me, but I have rarely seen basements with ceilings high enough that I found it aesthetically preferable to hide pipes/cables with a lowered ceiling.

Cable conduits installed on a basement ceiling near a door, demonstrating an alternative to suspended ceilings for hiding pipes. Electrical cable duct installed on a ceiling corner above a door in a basement room with 220 cm ceiling height.
