Hello,

we are redoing the bathroom in the cabin and are doing the preliminary work ourselves. The room was built by the previous owner, and not everything is according to the rules, so it has been quite a headache for us who have never built anything before...

We just realized that we really messed up and forgot to check the ceiling joists. We noticed only now, after the plywood and plastic are already on the wall, that there is a missing ceiling joist along that wall. The idea is to attach a Huntolit ceiling to the crosswise ceiling beams, but we now have nothing to fasten the ends to along one side.

Is our only solution to remove the plywood and plastic and put a joist in place, or do you see any other solution?

  • Insulation and wood beams under plastic sheeting in a renovation project, with plywood flooring visible; issue with missing ceiling joist.

Can't the joist be attached to the wall studs if they extend a bit upwards?
