Hello,
I am looking for some form of adjustable joint/hinge/knee joint or whatever it might be called, with fixed and fairly close notches so it can't slip, for square profile tubes in aluminum... but I'm stuck. If I Google and include "led," all the results are drowned in light-emitting diodes.
Imagine a meter-long piece in 25x25 square aluminum tube (something like this
http://www.maskindelen.se/aluminium-profilror-25x25x15/2082-0 which can normally be joined with joint connectors
http://www.maskindelen.se/maskinkomponenter/skarvknutar-till-profilror/258) lying horizontally and I want about 70 cm long pieces of the same material sticking out from both ends and want to adjust the angle from about 90-180 degrees or more, i.e., from both pieces pointing straight down to standing straight out.
There must be some form of locking mechanism so it doesn't slip. Either a spring-loaded button or a threaded screw (which can be replaced with a lock lever for quick adjustment) and some form of notched track that it slides in... I have considered buying some cheap adjustable bike stems and modifying them, but I think there should be more purpose-built joints, and I seem to recall having seen something somewhere, but can't remember where.
It should be reasonably strong, about the equivalent of the joint connectors.
If some drilling, tapping, and screwing, and patching with some metal piece is needed to put it together, it's not the end of the world. Welding is also fine as long as it's at least one mm thick or so. It doesn't need to be very pretty, but not several kilos heavy...
Anyone have a good idea?
