We live in a house from 1947 with two floors + a basement. The exterior walls are plank frame.
We are about to start renovating the upper floor, and a thought occurred to me, we are adding a lot of weight with this renovation. The plan is to install 45mm battens (for electrical wiring), insulate, and then add OSB and drywall on top. Just the OSB + drywall will weigh about 1200kg (32 meters of wall, 2.4 meters ceiling height, about 7.6 kg/sqm for OSB and the same for drywall). Additionally, there will be drywall on the ceiling and the weight of the battens. Then we have the same renovation planned for the entry floor.
Should I consider this more closely or just go ahead? How have those of you with a similar starting point approached this?
