I am renovating one of the rooms in the house, and in connection with that, I plan to soundproof one of the walls (to another bedroom).

The existing wall is a plank wall. My plan is to
Install acoustic profiles on the plank wall and two layers of Ultra Board (heavy fiber-reinforced gypsum) on it.
10 mm cavity
70 mm steel studs insulated with mineral wool and with two layers of Ultra Board.

Now to the question: in the installation instructions I find for acoustic profiles, they should be mounted on studs. But I don't have a stud frame, just a slightly uneven plank wall. Now I have screwed up a couple of acoustic profiles, and it feels like the profile (the bottom part that is screwed to the wall) "rattles" against the wall, which it wouldn't do if there was a stud frame.

Is it a bad idea to install an acoustic profile on a plank wall? Or can I remedy this by placing a thin batten behind the acoustic profile (so that it doesn't lie against the plank wall)?
