Mine also smelled quite a bit, so I left them outside for a day before bringing them in. After a few weeks lying on the floor, I didn't notice any smell. I mounted them this weekend and added a new one, which smelled the same as the others did at first. I'll see if the smell has disappeared the next time I visit (the cottage).
Light/untreated oak, but I'm sure it's the sound absorption that's smelling.

With 100% certainty, it is the blanket that absorbs the smell; I don't know what it depends on. I think that in cases where you have the "smoked" variant of the panel, the blanket absorbs the smoke smell from the wooden slats, and in other cases, they might have been stored in the same space as the smoked ones.

Why would one smoke wood when it's the color you're after?!

I
They state on their website that the product may smell strongly of "wood" for the first few weeks. If a special treatment has been chosen, it can certainly have an impact. The alternative is to disassemble it and store it somewhere else for a while before reassembling. I would call Fibrotech and inquire.

By the way, how well do these acoustic panels work, as they don't have any measurements on their website? The material seems to be just 2 cm PET without any distance from the wall. The slats are considered hard material, meaning they absorb nothing and they appear to cover more than 50% of the surface. Surely, they can break up the sound a bit given the design, but it feels like the acoustic capability has been compromised in favor of appearance here?

I personally have a few large acoustic panels made of PET, but they are 70 mm thick plus you should have 20-30 mm free space behind.

Apart from the fact that they can smell, are you satisfied with their function?

I have now noted that we bought the panel in two batches and it's actually only the first batch that smells. If you put your nose against the second one, it rather smells a bit fresh as new building material. I will get back to customer service about this and see what they have to say. The hassle is to mill in new sheets on site again, if they now have to be replaced..

Exactly how we feel about redoing everything again but it smells ... and it's not fun in a bedroom.

Hahaha, isn't smoked oak supposed to smell like smoke!?! (pun)

It's not always the color that's sought after. I've heard there's
scent-acoustic paneling, something that's becoming trendy. It's available, for example, with the scent of incense/myrrh.
Hope that answered your question!

You use ammonia fumes to color the wood.

I think T S would know if it was some fragrance story they bought, and it's still just about a name and not that the product has been smoked in any way.

On our farm in southern Sörmland, I have just installed a bunch of acoustic panels, all of which have a softly smoky scent.

I have installed Fibrotech light oak on the wall throughout my staircase, no smell either before or now. However, I'm questioning the quality, it costs quite a bit and the veneer surface is extremely thin. (Much was damaged upon delivery and had to be replaced, and I found strange seams on the veneer) The recommended screw is also difficult to screw in without damaging the panel as the heads are large. I got fed up and sprayed black assembly screws instead. The panel is super stylish but I don't dare to install it elsewhere, except possibly on the ceiling. Afraid it will be damaged just by dropping a feather nearby... Does anyone know if this panel is available with better quality? Is Wood On Wall the same thing or better? The price seems slightly higher.

I think wall upp looks to have the same quality.
Or lack thereof.

However, nicer colors (for my home)
And somewhat wider panels?

Close-up of a person holding a sample of wall panels with wood-like texture and dark color, highlighting the panel's width and quality.

Hello again! (thread lift deluxe)

For those of you who have installed acoustic panels like these, do you notice any difference in sound/echo, or are they put up purely for decorative purposes :D
