We are considering placing acoustic panels around a built-in fireplace. But what about flammable materials so close to the fireplace? There are currently heat-resistant panels instead of plaster.

Is there a specific type of acoustic panel we should use? Tips? Links on where to purchase this?

The rule is 50cm from the stove to combustible material and 1m from the glass door to combustible material. At the same time, the acoustic panel will insulate the stove and increase the heat inside the frame. There is probably a reason why there are fireproof boards there. Some form of ceramic would probably work if the frame can support the weight. This is ultimately a question for the chimney sweeper master.

What does the manufacturer say about the distance to combustible materials, etc.? It's their rules that must be followed. But it feels very risky with wood so close to that heat.

Otherwise, in Grand Designs Renovations season 1, episode 2, there was a couple with a 60s house that was completely remodeled. They have a similar stove and chose to put rectangular tiles on it, which I think turned out really nice and might be worth considering/rethinking?
