Hey.
After an unusually stressful week, I finally started my vacation by purchasing timber and posts for our porch.
However, it turned out that I had bought non-treated beams!!?

The porch will be about 32 square meters, 16 of which will be under the roof.
Now I'm wondering if I have 100 meters of timber at home that can't be used, or is it possible to oil it sufficiently anyway?

Works and works... You get a drastically shortened lifespan. On the other hand, won't the lumberyard take back your planks then, do you think?

I will call Byggmax tomorrow morning.
But if they don't take a return on lumber, I'm faced with the fact that my lumber must be used.
What lifespan are we talking about for treated vs. untreated?

(It's lucky that the head is still on at least :) )

Could it perhaps be worth sending them out and having them printed? I have no idea myself, but it might be worth a phone call to find out.

Spruce cannot be pressure-treated.

Just spoke with Byggmax and they don't accept returns on lumber.
So I'll have to oil it after all..
Does anyone know what lifespan applies in this case?
If I have to replace it in like 2-3 years, maybe it's better not to build with my lumber.

Sell them on Blocket and buy new. Would never use oimpat in the frame.

Skip the timber and buy new, see it as learning money.

Ok. That sounds reasonable.
Ad online and dad on his way to Bauhauss for regelköp. :)
Thanks for all the answers.

Sad, sounds like a reason not to shop at Byggmax.. :(

Really bad, the firms I buy from accept returns on almost everything if it's unused, I just returned a wall-hung toilet, have to pay for the shipping back to Swedbergs but I think that's ok.
A real building supplier naturally accepts unused timber for return a week later if you instead buy treated timber from the same firm.

Pretty typical Byggmax and the other ``low-price chains´´ the service is very poor if not non-existent and the prices are not LOW if you check with your local dealer they usually have the same price per/meter+ they often have wood in 30 cm intervals so there's less waste there
