Hello

I'm in the process of calculating the move of our existing kitchen and it's down to millimeters if the existing cabinets are to fit.

Right now, we're missing about 5 mm to fit the base cabinets I want between two walls. If I choose to use 6 mm renovation plasterboard on OSB instead of regular plasterboard, it will work with 5 mm to spare.

Apart from the renovation plasterboard being more expensive and fragile, is there anything else I should consider?

Just be aware that the walls are probably not perfectly perpendicular. So where you have 5mm to spare, it might still be missing 8mm a bit further out on the wall, and so on.

Skip the plaster entirely behind the cabinets, place 13 plaster between the lower and upper cabinets if you're going to have tiles.

I see no problems with putting 6mm gypsum on osb. But as mentioned, it seems a bit uneasy with such small margins. How large are the walls and are you going to screw anything onto them? Another option is single-layer gypsum without osb behind.

It is also possible to fit etc. between the studs. A lot of work of course, but if it's only a few boards it's okay.

Thank you for your response.
I have recalculated a bit and adjusted my Tetris build a bit, it takes too much time and energy to deal with millimeter construction. It won't be completely optimal utilization of space, but much more margin. :)
